Oh dear, oh dear...

Sugarmill, Stoke, Dec 28th 2008... what can I say? Maxes first show with us and it seemed to start so well, but just got worse and worse until the drum monitor cut out and Shane couldn't hear a thing. Busting out our Anton Rough cover saved our hides, lets face it, most of the saving was done by Soggy from TRC. I don't know how I ended up falling off the stage and lossing my shoe and hat...

The other bands were good, The River Card delivering the goods as always, go buy their new album.

Few pictures here.

2008 is ending...

Little update for anyone who's interested; we have a split coming soon on my very own power negi records featuring 5 tracks from us and 5 tracks from Ding Dong Dead. It will be released in late January, and the 1st issue is limited to 100 copies.

Secondly we'll have T-shirts soon, we have the design by Steve (Chaos vs Cosmos), however there my be a few tweaks done to it before it goes off to be printed. Expect them next year too.

Finally, we're all enjoying ourselves, we're all up for 2009 and we're going to be bringing you lots of new music for your little ears. Check out the power negi myspace for more releases too.

Magpyes are real villians

With Rory now on vocals too we can really develop, two new tracks written with him in his new role. The first of which we have tight, and the second 'Magpyes are real villians' in the final Stages.

Here's the first:

We are Anton Rough...

November 2008 already and we've been alive a year. Couple of line up changes and now we're on it and actually getting tight. We're hoping for some vocal changes soon; a Daughters meets Tower of Rome kinda thing instead of the dire growls you've been hearing. We hope to re-record old songs as soon as Alex from Krupskaya/Ignore This Records is back from tour - some time before the end of the year - then hopefully record some new material too.

The most expensive chicken we ever brought...

The last day of August 2008 saw a new addition to the band. Max harper is now our second guitarist, he's already learnt five songs, and has 5 more to learn. We managed to write a new song with him as well. This songs a triumph for us at near 2 minutes long, it makes a great first or last song for a set; it has a long droning intro and a slowly dying end. With an extra member we will be able to write more songs, and faster, and more faster songs. We may enter the studio once more this year to record all unrecorded material. Still after a band to split with, message us at www.myspace.com/mobydickuk or at mobydick@live.co.uk

Remeber the time we crashed the car?

Starting at the start would be the best place to start, but also boring. So forget all that, apart from we're from Stoke-on-Trent, began in Nov 2007, love to grind, wrote some songs, found some gigs. We were in a car crash racing someone when on the way to get some stands for a show with Contrasto. Just recently we played a couple of shows with The Gentle Art Of Chokin' from Germany. They were ideal, although getting lost in Leicester isn't. One of these shows we put on ourselves (Jake did everything). A few people came, enough to pay The Gentle Art' anyway. Gonna put a few more shows on in the future hopefully. If I/we do there'll be one in October for Jesus of Spazzareth and Burning the Prospect and one in January for Crocus, Throats and Lavotchkin.

Also at the moment we have some recorded but unreleased tracks and are looking for a band to do a split with and a label to help us out. Message us on our MySpace or e-mail Jake at jake_kent@hotmail.co.uk if you're interested. T-shirts are in the middle of getting designed, they should be a treat. Demos are available at most shows.

Our next show will be in Stoke, at the Glebe with See You Next Tuesday (Sept 4th 08). The line up isn't bad, but as near enough no one goes to shows in Stoke you can never tell what the crowd will be like. Stokes' scene needs a kick up the arse.
